When a molting muscovy decides to she'd like to be a mother again by Thanksgiving and goes broody, who am I to argue?

There is a feral muscovy Mama on a retention pond near me in NE Florida that has hatched ducklings in the last week. She had 4 when I first saw them 3 days ago. Mama is very attentive. I'm sure Katya will be attentive, too!

Katya's certainly attentive this time around. She hatched her first batch in Spring, and immediately abandoned those. She wasn't mean, just had no interest in having anything to do with motherhood so her ducklings raised themselves on the periphery of the flock. It's cold here this time of year - not at all like Florida, I imagine - so I'm relieved her attitude has changed!
