A snake bit me yesterday!

You have to watch out for those snakes...they can make you hurt yourself! Had a lady in the ER the other day...snake didn't get her, but she almost killed her self trying to get away from it!

FWIW, my Dr, who is no fan of vaccine policies as they exist today, told me that the tetanus shot is likely the least intrusive on the human body. Also, it is before and not after the fact (event) type of shot for results. The body has to process the material and this takes time before it works.

We had a snake in our coop right at the door.

I called to my husband to come kill it and he came over carrying a stick. I asked him how was he going to kill the snake with a stick! He is in the relocation business. He has a hard time killing anything. By the time he figured out if he didn't kill it it would just be back later, it was gone.

Now I have to look for it everyday and I know one of these days it will be back:he

I'm a reptile person. I breed geckos and have two snakes.

....BUT.... If I found a snake in my coop, I'd be pretty irritated. lol We had a 6+foot rat snake living under our canoe last year. He surprised me when I moved the canoe....and I screamed a Mariah Carey note. It was intense.

I think people are most often scared by snakes because of the surprise factor... although, even with warning - I wouldn't enjoy removing a 6+ foot "stranger snake" from my coop or home.

To the original poster.... good luck!

I'm honestly not afraid of snakes, but I think it was the surprise factor that made me jump.....I think I probably scared it just as much as it scared me....We were both minding our own business until our paths crossed.......I'm actually glad I jumped right away because then it couldn't really sink the fangs into my food.....I just have some scrape marks (Four of them...four fangs I guess). My food is just fine today...no swelling or anything.....

I was thinking, "Gee, I don't even think I know anybody who was ever bitten by a snake before...." The gals at the office couldn't believe it! LOL

Laughing so hard at some of these posts that I startled my poor dog who started barking! Thanks for a good laugh.

Personally I like snakes, although I do not like being startled by them, and am all for relocation. Of course I say that now as I have no chickens. Once the chickens arrive I'm sure that will be subject to change without notice.

We had a terrible problem with rats in the attic but once I started putting shed skins up there they have gone away! And with the black snakes and cats in the yard, no rats there either.

So far we havnt lost any chickens but I built the chick pen to be snake proof (Having raised, sold, caught or kept all kinds of snakes, snake proof can be done!) and the chicklets only come out of it when they are too big for even a large black racer to tackle.

I LOVE snakes but yep, the startle factor is huge when one whip cracks out from under my feet

A good way to make every member of your family leap and shout is to thaw a large, frozen, copper head out in the kitchen sink!

And to be free of rats, I would even live with loosing a few chickens. But thats just me lol.
