What material did you use for your 'window'?

It's clear packing tape. I also left the natural air cell membrane intact.

Yes, knew air cell was intact....wonders if using tape will reduce air exchange too much.
Time will tell.

No, it is sitting upright on a ring of polymer clay (for traction). I have been tilting it from side to side to "turn" it.
I wonder if taking of the tape completely would help or not. I do not know if the membrane alone would do a good enough job of keeping bacteria out.

I wouldn't risk it at this point. I think you're better off loosing water a little more slowly than too quickly (which is what I think would happen if you took off the tape). If you get to lock down and the air cell is still a bit small, I would remove the tape.

I wasn't expecting great results anyway.
