"Sorry, but it's true," Heron told him.
"Cobra," Dire spat his name out like poison "doesn't trust me at all already. He knows we are sneaking prey. He noticed the difference in the pile. If I gain his trust we may save us. Besides, he knows I brought the animal. If he knows this, he will possibly permit me to take a piece of prey and give it to the weak, and he won't even care." Dire explained, trying to sound patient. (@LittlePip21 can Cobra give Dire permission (or not) to prey)

Huckleberry rolled his eyes, "If you say so,"

Dire sighed. How come things so simple could be considered be so complicated by Huckleberry? If you gave prey you got it.

"Never mind." Heron heaved himself to his paws and stretched. "I'll go take some prey to the elders while Cobra's out."
"Good luck. I doubt the guards'll let you." Huckleberry meowed after him. That Dire is a bad influence on Heron... Always trying to figure out ways to do impossible things. He sighed wearily.

(sure) Cobra stalked through the Forrest, his ruffled pelt finally smoothing. A fat vole hung in his jaws as he strutted into camp, waiting patiently for a oportunity.

"nice work." he said noted, eyeing the parrot. then he flicked his tail dissmisively. he seemed lost in thought for a moment, but stopped dire as he turned away. "if you were one of my warriors, you could do whatever you wanted with your shares." he looked down his nose at the tom, then his eyes flashed disgustedly tward the clearing. "of course, I know your too good to swear loyalty to me..you'd rather live down there, with the worms." he sneered.

"Of course," Dire replied. "I suppose I should leave now, talk to Oleander." (He knew where she was.) He wandered off. He decided to catch something else for those who needed it. He knew Cobra wouldn't show it, but he knew Cobra was going to cringe at the mention of Oleader's name, and took pleasure in making Cobra feel guilty.

Cobra did indeed cringe, and called out to dire. "tell her to come back when you see her."
