Abandoned ducks. Need help on how to catch them.

Animal control and Fish and Game won’t help me. So I guess I’m on my own
Did either advise you not to capture them? There is a rumour going around that it is unlawful to rescue domestic ducks, and I am wondering if it is completely false.

I wrote to fish and game in Washington state myself yesterday and am waiting to hear what they say.

They didn’t explicitly say it was illegal. They said they just leave the ducks alone and advise people not to feed them. If it is I will still try and get them. I’d rather get in trouble then know that there is some ducks that I can save but will die if I don’t.

I think it is true, but no tin all areas. I don't think it applies to pekin, and obvious domestic breeds. I thin kit mostly applies to Mallards, because they never really know for sure if they are domestic or wild. You got this!

Exactly! Just make sure that no one see's you, that is all, anti rescuing ducks or they will report you, and you will have to return the ducks to the lake. Just try no tot let anyone see you, maybe try to go early in the morning, or late at night when no one is really around. Then you will be sure not to get busted. Nice job! @cooingcrow1 Got anything to add?

I was wondering if I went real late at night if I could sneak up on them while they’re sleeping. Do you think it could work?

Can you go at night? They may stay by the bank but it’s unlikely. You could try to get raccoon trap and stay your distance and throw a little food by it (make sure you put extra food in there ahead of time) and wait for one to go in, and repeat the process. I did this with some of my neighbors feral gamefowl.

You could just throw food away from the water and chase them with help, ducks are easy to catch compared to other poultry.

Use a HavAHart live type trap and bait with grain. All this after making sure that saving them is not prohibited by your town. If they are domestic, it is not a Fish & Game sort of thing.
Live trap is a good idea too, as long as you are right there when they go in. But if one goes in and the other see it get trapped and freaking out, then they might be afraid of you. It might be better to contain them all, in a run, and then no one can run away if they are scared.
