Abscessed Tooth

Adding that it's probably not a good sign, but it actually doesn't hurt. Just tightness from the swelling. Wierd...

Frosty? Is this you my friend? Sorry to hear about your abcess.

My son just told me to do what I do to the turkeys when they have a sinus infection

Will Tylan work? I am kidding, don't think I could give myself a shot...

Been there, done that. Still have an aching jaw from the tooth being pulled. The 14 days of antibiotics weren't alot of fun either.

Hope you can get it taken care of quickly. Jack Daniels comes in handy at times like these.

Well, he gave me 7 days of Penicillin V... Don't like the 4x a day part, hard enough for me to remember 2x a day for meds! Then go see the dentist tomorrow.

Poor guy was trying not to laugh while DH and I were discussing what size needle I could use to drain it. He didn't seem too concerned, said menningitis wasn't likely 'but still probably not a bad idea to have it checked out'. He kinda sounded like he didn't know why I was there if I already had an appointment in the morning. And he had cold clammy hands.

My DS developed an absess from a tooth that apparently had a bad root canal four years ago. It started bothering him and then swelled up overnight. He was in so much pain. Luckily we had a dentist appointment in the morning. We ended up having the tooth pulled and he had just gotten his braces off too.. Now he's worried it will mess up his teeth 'cause he has one missing. The dentist said he could get an implant for $2,000.00 , but who has that much money for a tooth implant?

Paddock36, SERIOUSLY??? $2,000!!! That's crazy expensive. When oh when will health care companies recognize that your MOUTH is not just part of your body that requires care but a very IMPORTANT part! Why is everything covered under health insurance except our mouths? It is after all, the place we put everything in order to sustain life.

I had a simple bridge for alot of years (lots cheaper than an implant). It filled the gap between two molars after I had to have tooth pulled. Kept the two remaining molars on that side in line. Though I was young I had to have the tooth pulled because my mom couldn't afford a root canal to save it. Funny thing about that bridge - the dentist that put it on said it was only attached temporarily. He told me to come back in two weeks to have it permanently affixed. I hated that dentist and never went back. Thirty years later it broke and had to be removed. Even after 30 years they had a hard time getting that thing out.

Frosty, I'm glad you are getting it taken care of. Lucky you that you can take PCN. I'm deathly allergic and have to take clindamycin. Hard on the gut.
