I currently have four 10 week old Buff Orpingtons. One might just be a cockerel so I’m probably about to have three. I have always loved calmer breeds because although they are there to lay eggs(eventually) I love to spend time with them, having a chicken on my arm makes my day. Would I be totally crazy to get two Silkie pullets? Will my Orpingtons pick on them because of their feathers and size regardless of if I introduce them correctly? Of course I have space for them, if I can’t get Silkies I’ll just get some more Orpingtons. Thanks!

They'll probably fit in if you get them pretty soon and similar ages. Especially if you have lots of space.
I don't know your setup but the calmer the bird, the more predator prone they are. Birds with head crests are even more vulnerable, especially to hawks.
I've had foxes on two occasions grab a calm orpington right in front of me in the middle of the day. The less calm breeds, would probably never let that happen because they are more wary.

I love hearing that! I have plenty of room, and they sort of free range in an area where my chicken-friendly dogs patrol so predators aren’t a concern. I’ll start looking now and probably get some around the time that my possible roo leaves. Thanks for the input!
