We Quit Cigarettes

I still have to do mammograms and I'm closing in on 61. Your doctor will not necessarily tell you. IME, most of them don't. Even the internists don't necessarily bring it up, but as they're supposedly overseeing your over-all care, they should talk to you about it. They should make sure you're seeing a dermatologist too, and any other routine care they don't personally provide as well as some they do provide. But they often don't. You have to be your own advocate. Just the way it is, unfortunately.

With your specialists who know you well, you're likely getting better oversight than most, but you still can't take it as a given that the docs are covering all the bases. Voice of experience here...
I only see specialists. I don't see a primary care doctor because I'm too complex 😂

Shizzles sticks. This is so confusing.
I think If I had to learn this for myself it would be easier to learn.

I'm probably wasting my time anyways because it's not like you know who's going to listen to what I have to say about what he should and shouldn't eat.

Can you track an estimated number of carbs he takes in?
Will he be willing to get bloodwork?

So you have a similar experience as me with the chicken truck. When I saw a chicken truck It really upset me because the chickens looked so disgusting. They barely had feathers on their behind, they all look like they couldn't stand, and other stuff I don't even want to say.

Same here. Crossing the central valley last year, we saw a chicken truck go by and my husband and I both found it extremely upsetting. I still can't think about it without getting upset. I haven't bought chicken from the store in the last 5 years. I don't even order it in restaurants. As hard as it is, to butcher a chicken you have raised from an egg, that truck is why I do it.

I'll go on the weight loss journey with you, I have been slowly losing weight for a long time and I'm down to probably the last 15-ish pounds which are usually the hardest.

I'm trying to eat the healthiest that I can being vegan or plant-based. I'm really watching what I eat.

Today I did have leftover vegan macaroni and cheese from yesterday with peas. Then I had low sodium crackers with my chickpeas "tuna" on it. I figured that having six crackers would be better than having bread.

If Kiki can quit... We can lose :highfive:

I'm glad there are others dieting along with me. I thought seriously about going vegan, when I started raising animals for food. I ended up deciding not to for various reasons, one of which is I am a bit of a carboholic. When I tried going vegan for a week, I actually didn't mind the food at all, but I was eating tons of bread, potatoes and pasta.

My strategy for weight loss now is two fold. First, I'm drastically reducing empty calories, which in my case, are potato chips, my evening cocktail, and dessert. Second, I'm eating slower and reducing portion size.

I'm adding in the 5 minute per hour get up and move thing.

We both just have full blood work done.
I beat him. :D
My numbers are perfect.

I eat a lot of carbs 😂 that's basically all vegan is but I'm not wasting it on bread or other stuff. I eat veggie pasta which is usually made of stuff like spinach or zucchini.

I have been eating those fruit slices that have sugar on the outside 🙈 but I only eat about 2-4. It's only because I have cravings for sweets during that dreaded time of the month. After that I don't eat sweets.

I've been losing weight every day so far. I had a lot of inflammation because of the iv antibiotics they put me on... I ended up being allergic to them so now my body is trying to repair itself. I'm back down to where I should be so I'll start counting Monday on my weight loss.

If I eat extremely clean, the weight seems to melt off but my stress level gets insane. I'm going to have to wean myself into clean eating. Hopefully by the beginning of March I will be back on to clean eating and I can start with a clean slate.

I'm trying to slowly work my way towards it because if I go too fast, I usually start failing.
