Adult hen has never layed any eggs.

Agree with BDutch - 4 eggs a day from 5 hens doesn’t necessarily mean one isn’t laying. It could mean that they’re not all laying every day.

I agree with this, chickens don't lay every 24 hours right? its something like every 30? math wise 4 eggs a day from 5 ladies makes sense : D some people are lucky and can get 5 from 5 but I've never had that ^^

I have one barred rock (in great health and not molting) that doesn't seem to be laying either. She is 9 months old. No where for her to hide eggs. She did lay a 2 or 3 when she was about 7 months old, but stopped. I have 5 hens also. I figure she is just my "special" girl and if she starts laying someday, great. If now, well, I love her anyway.

In winter (short days) most chicken breeds stop laying.

Many chickens that stop laying in winter will start laying again in February or March .

My ISA Browns layed all winter, every winter they were alive. I have some other breeds now…RIR, Barred Rock, Buff Orpington…all stopped lying over winter, but are just now showing interest in the nests again, and combs are getting more red, and they have started the squatting again. Though, the RIRs have been laying through the winter too, but very sporadically….as in…maybe once a week or not. Not like my poor ISA Browns that suffered because of it.

Also, if they don’t lay by the time winter hits and the daylight shortens, they may not till spring. I have a Barred Rock that did that her first year. All the other started laying before winter, but she never did till late February. I was worried about her, but she came through just fine.
