Hi all - I’ve kept quail before and have not ever had this happen before.
This evening we were holding one of our 7 week old quail. (She started laying 3 days ago) she had something stuck to her foot so we wanted to wash it off. She’s generally pretty calm and quite tame. She will dit on our outdoor couch with my daughter.
This evening she got scared and didn’t like the idea of washing her foot.
She struggled and we held on firm but gentle . She twisted and pulled and in the matter of a couple seconds her innards came out of her rear.
The pool canal and egg cannal, still attached but protruding.
After some gentle observation I was able to gently coax the innards back in and slip her into a old sock with her head sticking out to limit body movement.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before.
Our current best plan is to keep her as still as possible till tomorrow and go from there.
