A few weeks ago, some of you gave me advise to breed an EE cockerel to a Production Red Hen by using Artificial Insemination. That what we decided to do, and we are putting two of the eggs on lockdown tomorrow! I originally had two Cochin x Sebright eggs in there as well since I had a hard time breeding them, but those eggs quit very early. I ended up breeding the Sebright to the Cochin one more time, and those eggs will hatch in about two weeks.

Second finally hatched!

Here’s a 3 week update for the first two that hatched.

Both of them are huge and growing like crazy! Unfortunately, both are boys and will most likely have to be dinner in the future. They have both developed some crests, which is a dead give-away that the leghorn- Polish rooster is the father of these guys. Perhaps next time the AI will work?

Another update after my mini vacation. Came home to find that one of the older red chicks proved me wrong (in a good way) and is a pullet! I’m over the moon with it, especially since she looks identical to her PR mom. I swear these two are the biggest six week old mutts I have ever had. The first that hatched out of the two red’s turned a beautiful Buff color, and is a cockerel.
