Air cells on wrong end of fertile eggs!

View attachment 1659315

This is the egg (picture taken prior to incubation), is it possible that because I had it on its side for 24 hours before incubation, the air cell developed this way?
Also, I just candled it again and saw that the air cell extends to the side of the egg too, but it's not saddle shaped.
The chick is quite active and moving around on the large end of the egg, it's been there since 2 days.

That’s pretty pointy! :D
Did you know the egg spins lengthwise right before it come out of the hens vent? I wonder if the ones with air cells on the wrong end either don’t spin, or maybe it’s just a freak thing that happens sometimes.
I’ll be anxious to see how it progresses, I hope you’ll keep us updated.

Here are 4 recent bantam cochin eggs from my girls.

Compared to yours it is quite pointy haha.
And I did not know that, I wonder what happens with eggs too, that makes them this way.
I will definitely keep updating :)

Well.. Bad news :( the chick isn't moving anymore. I just candled it to check if it's doing alright and I could clearly see the chick but no movement. Is it really dead? I can't bring myself to accept it, it was pretty active just yesterday.
And another one that is day 5 now has the same air cell problem and I am scared it'll suffer the same fate too.

Oh no!
It’s possible that it was just being very still? Do you still see any veins? I can usually tell they have quit if I kinda twitch the egg back and forth, and the chick free-floats. Like just a blob unattached to anything. If that makes any sense. Lol
At least give it a day or two more. It is usually pretty obvious when they’ve died. :(

I do see veins for now, also, i did that, like you said and it is free-floating. :( I've still got it in the incubator though.

You are not seeing an air cell in these photos.
Look here....not until day five or six will you notice the air cell.

Unfortunately the camera couldn't capture the air cell clearly, but I could see it just like in the pictures from your link, it was on the pointed end and towards the side. For now I think it's dead... But I will try and get a clear picture again.

I basically put up these pictures to confirm whether it is dead or not, because I can't see a definite blood ring yet but it's still and freely floating.
