ALABAMA!!

If anyone is looking for a rooster, my five month old Speckled Sussex is ready for a new home. He's pretty timid around people and fairly easy to deal with, for an adolescent cockerel. I don't have enough hens to keep a rooster and would rather rehome him before that becomes a problem.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, still somewhat newish to chickens. I need to learn more about integrating new chickens into an existing flock so I came here to read and hopefully get some ideas.

Until yesterday we had 11 hens (8 red sex-links, 3 blue Orpingtons) and 1 rooster of unknown breed named Colonel. Yesterday I brought home from an NPIP-certified place 14 amberlinks (1 of which is a rooster) and 3 gold-laced wyandottes (2 hens, 1 rooster). I only wanted layers but the seller wanted to include a male so I took them. Now I'm thinking eventually I might let the wyandottes breed so I'm glad I have that rooster. That may mean the wyandottes will stay separate from the rest of the layers so the other roosters can't mate with them.

We have a lot going on so we stay busy around here. We also are beekeepers and have 4 dogs who believe they are our children. Thank goodness we have them to supervise us and keep us in line!

Welcome Scarlet I'm pretty new here myself. We have 27 red sex-links two of which are roosters. The pic above is the first egg from them. I'm sure you will find answers to any questions you may have on here-I know I have.
Beekeeping eh? That's one of the things on my list as well. I hope to get set up this winter. Again, welcome!
