Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Where do you guys get your feed and/or bedding? I've been looking online at a couple of feed stores here in Anchorage, and I've been to Alaska Mill and Feed. They seem to have everything, but I'm not sure about their prices (kinda high). Any suggestions?

We'll be finished with our coop this weekend, and I want to have supplies before I look for hens.

In Anchorage, there's not a whole lot of options other than Mill & Feed, I think there might be one other feed store, but they mostly have horse stuff. If you don't mind a drive, there are more options in the valley. Even Wal-Mart has feed, here. I personally get my chicken feed from Budget Feed in Palmer and my rabbit food from Wal-Mart.

Well I just put 6 eggs in the bator... Three that I know of are from my Norwegian, and three are either from my Barred Rock or Rhode Island Red... all should be bred to my Polish Crested

Interesting!

What an eventful weekend. DH finished the wiring in the chicken coop, we finished the construction of the duck coop (except the pop door), DD painted the duck coop, we put together a yard for the chickens and moved them to their new coop. We also posted and sold in 3 hours (from first posting to gone) 13 extra roos. I couldn't believe it. No one batted an eye. They just got their roos and left. Things are much calmer now and the ones that are left are mildly shaking out their peck order. I still kept about 6-8 too many roos, but I want to see how they grow out first. Now if DH can finish the wiring in the duck coop the ducks can move from the tractor into their new digs. They got a chance to hang out with the chickens yesterday and Digit kept "tasting" the chickens. They thought she was a monster and gave her a wide berth. You should have seen the chickens scatter when the ducks decided to come into the coop and inspect the realestate.
