Michigan. I could buy grassfed beef for a fraction of what it would cost to ship our own meat out

We will probably hunt as usual in the spring, and give the excess to church families that need it, come time to leave.

Same kinda seasons there at least

You could probably RAISE your own cow for that matter...lol

Whatcha gonna do with the chickens when you leave?

Just FYI, we don't really have cases of Mareks that we have to worry about up here, so vaccination isn't really necessary. Especially for meat birds.

There's always a chance that it can be introduced up here, but our weather yada yada doesn't allow some of the more common diseases to flourish up here. Which I'm very happy about.

Adrienne, congratulations on your hatch! Can I say I told you so?

Longer summers though, and much lighter in the winter

We will likely pick up a beef calf each year, and grass/root vege /hay feed.
I would love to do a milk cow, but would prefer to do goats for a time.
Cows are fussier, and trying to breed them is not easy.

I'd like to have some large critters, but no time and no money for something like that right now. Maybe someday...

No fun!!

If he has his own fur then it's only $60 for me to make plus shipping back, if he wants to buy it outright it will depend on the fur type.
