Stephanie and I want to get some meaties, but we were looking at using Murray McMurray so we could get the Cornish Roasters. They are supposed to have less leg problems and can be dressed out at 11-12 weeks. Less leg issues, to me, means better foraging.
Has anyone gotten the roasters from MMM?

I just woke up to my quail in lock-down and my egg wiggler was up to 102~~~~!!!!!!!!!

I switched them over to my locked down incubator and get them out of that homemade one. I sure hope I didn't cook
all 40 of them!!!

We are off to an auction, 40 quail and 5 BCM's in lock-down!~

We've been counting the days and turning our eggs.. that started hatching last at about 11 o'clock. So far we have new baby chicks.. 11 more to go... I'll try to repost once they're all out.

I found two pheasants in the incubator this morning... somehow I missed moving them to the hatcher. Turner still going, water gone, and they are the healthiest two of the bunch. Hmmmmmmmmm...

We do!

I was told that it was bad for their legs? They slip on it and can blow out ligaments and tendons? You see anything like that? I think the person that told me was maining referring to very young chicks... 1-2 weeks old.

Never had an issue. Chicks do just fine as well. Now, if its a bit of straw on a slippery surface, I can see that being an issue for sure.

Sounds good, I'm revamping the old chicken house for my meat birds and will be making a new tractor coop for my layers to free range. The hay will be going down on a wood floor, so shouldn't be too slippery at all. Thanks
