This is not chick related.

I almost killed 2 of our 3 of our kittens

Two days ago, I had the old van that we use for storage open, because I needed hay. I was seeding the old chicken run with wheat.
I forgot to close it that day. Closed it yesterday morning before heading to town with DH around 9:30
Today, a little after 3, it finally occured to me that there might be reason the two mamas were fussing around the van, and why I had not seen the babies all day.
I about had a heart attack when I looked in and saw two the kittens sleeping on the front seat

Poor things! Their bellies were sunken in, and with the sun beating down, I think they would have been dead by nightfall.

Am in the process of building a run for them once they are old enough to stay out. The coop will be next!

My mom lives in wasilla, meadow lakes side, and has about 40 meaties that are about 3 weeks old now. She just put them outside to stay overnight because she couldnt handle them in her house anymore.. you think theyll be ok???

They should be ok....that said though, maybe they can still have the heat lamp for a few more nights, just to make sure.
Last year, we had ours out at 3 weeks, (they were locked in the coop witha light prior to that) but they had a tractor with a small room for them to crowd into, and we hung a light in there for about 10 days I think.
This year, they will be outside right away, with broodies!
Can't wait!!
