Spring around the corner ( a long way around but on the way!) and babies coming...Have to feel good about that. I candled my Lavs (day 10) and the bantam Favs (Day 7) and we have goers so....
Sounds like you have things looking up, but I would have cried my eyes out too!
I have a shipment of eggs coming from Georgia that still have not arrived - wish me luck!
My 'test' incubation yielded one lone chick. But I know what I did wrong, I think. I have 9 more eggs in the bator now (day one). I need another bator (or something homemade) for the last 3 hatching days, as I will be staggering the eggs in the incubator. I have two more shipments of eggs coming this week (one from Georgia again!) LOL - hope they make it. This pic is of my little 3-day old 'test' baby! She is very sweet but lonely! I have a BLRW roo over BO hens.
I had 3 seramas hatch that came from Florida, it can be done! They'll do fine I bet. If you have a feather duster (or make one) and a mirror to place with her, it will help, if you haven't thought of that already. One of my seramas was a loner and she was sooo unhappy til the folks here told me a few things to help. They did thank goodness. I have BLRWs coming next week...
We are finally finished! First hatch was at 2:30 am Sat. morning. Last one hatched around 7pm Sun night. Out of 16 refrigerated eggs we got 11 chicks. Out of 18 fresh eggs we got 12 chicks. So out of a total of 34 that's around 67% by my calculations. These little guys don't weigh a thing it's like holding a cotton ball! All are DUccle but mixed colors. I cant wait till its my eggs hatching next weekend.
I love hatching in the egg cartons. I think it was easier on the chicks too.
Ban seabhag, once my 4th girl starts laying, maybe I can sneak off some BCM eggs to you...
We'll see how it goes. They're still not cooperating yet, even with the nicer weather (36°F here this morning!!
)
Pips in the incubator this morning have, in the last 4 hours, turned into 2 Red Sex links, 2 BCMs, 2 Dellies, with LBs, Orpingtons and Dorkings starting to pip. More eggs going into lockdown this morning, and then I'll be on a Wednesday morning hatch for the rest of the season.

Mrs. Ak - Thank you in advance about the BCM eggs...You are the best. Warmed up a bit today here also though we got about 1/2 inch of snow last night, the sun is shining now!
