But Polish Top hats are really pretty birds. I only have one but he's here for good even if "he" turns out to be a guy, and nobody's eating him (her). (You haven't lived until you taste polish sausage made from wild goat. Now that's yummy.....)
Tori and Deb have lovely Black Copper Marans.... They're the ones to talk to alright.....

Rebecca bought eggs from OnTheSpot (Patty Carson) and had them shipped directly to me to incubate. She then chose one of the pullets to keep. (Becca spoils me!) She named her Tori. My 3 girls and Tori are from Patty's stock... my rooster, Romeo, came from Deb.

I have pips this morning.

The next 7 days are going to be crazy, because I have 4 sets of shipped eggs set 1-2 days apart, all due to come out starting Friday.

Ashia, we really are having a hard time right now coming up with chicks and eggs. All 3 of us, Tori, Donna and I are either all just
starting our flocks or our flocks arent laying at this moment in time. It's been beg borrow or steal to keep each-other afloat here. Aimee is hatching
out some of my eggs but it doesn't sound like she's parting with any of those guys....

I've pulled my BC Marans from the roster until I can get the flock back up to speed. I won't have any adults or chicks for the foreseable future, unless I can convince a silkie to go broody and try to let her hatch some. Any that hatch now will be raised up to maturity before any decisions are made on whether they will be used in the breeding program or not.

Yep we are pretty much in the same boat here. I have to increase my flock a bit 4 just doesnt cut it.

I was going to keep the best of these to start but I wouldn't pass on culls to anyone who wants to start a breeding program. I don't know how good they will be, and I have some neighbors who want them just for the eggs. Everybody's young here...

I hope when (and if) they have some later, to get a few eggs from Deb and /or Tori too, to try.....

I hear you Donna! If it's just for eggs, that's one thing... Patience is key with any of the breeds that are harder to come by. We're not being mean (at least not intentionally

) but we've waiting and worked for the birds we have. It took me 2 years and LOTS of eggs shipped in to get the flock of Dorkings I have now. I have one Red Rooster that is easily worth $200 for the eggs I had shipped in. It definitely takes time and patience.

BTW, Donna, how are your Ameraucana babies doing? They grow so fast... any new photos?
