I TOLD you I was a DISASTER.!!!

First I spend a year looking for Marans in Craigslist, etc.
Then Annie has her sister send me 30-something eggs WITHOUT asking me if I can even hatch them! (UGGG!)
Then instead of sending one, she sends me 2 different shipments! And not even at the same time! (Who does that?)
And HOW many people (seriously) end up with an "accidental" shipment of 18 Penedesenca eggs because the breeder made a mistake?
And then when you call them and let them that you didn't order them, they (literally) laugh at you and say "oops!"
As if I needed anymore eggs?

I did tell my dad he was INSANE.
But as he said, it was my fault!
I guess in the future, if I tell my parents I've been searching for something, I should inform them that I found what I was looking for.!!! LoL

I'm telling you, my life will only be MELLOW when I die!
LOL

What color eggs do your Quail lay?
And what kind are they again?
I forgot. LoL Sorry!
Space-Cadette over here!

Do not raise different types of quail together. Bobwhites will KILL Coturnix. I had that happen this morning... day old quail, the Bobs literally removed the upper beak of a Coturnix baby and killed it. ALL of the Coturnix quail that were in with the Bobs had bloody beaks. Bobwhite babies have been known to kill
chukar babies in the same brooder. Do NOT mix them.

Sorry... still feeling a bit sad.

I got my eggs from Speckledhen yesterday! Left them on the counter over night to settle from the shipping.
Set 14 Barred Rocks and 2 B/BS Orphingtons into the incubator at 7:15 am.....

I guess I got the fear of god scared into me a long time ago about Quail. A friend of the family told me
stories about newborn quail killing newborn chicks (chicken) in the same brooder. I dont even mess with it anymore,
they go in their own brooder and when our babies grow up we'll be replacing the adults. The adults will join us for dinner or maybe we'll host a quail shoot....

The information about quail is very interesting. I didn't know anything about them. Losing them that way is pretty heartbreaking, but I've learned from it, if I ever decide to raise some. I never would have thought they would be so hostile to different species so young, but it makes sense by nature's rules, I guess. Still, I'm sorry Tori.. That's just sad.
