Quick question - do any of you feed dried mealworms to your chooks?

I am hesitant to do so as I have heard that most of them come from China which have different processing standards and are therefore only suitable for wild birds. Some years ago DEFRA said these dried mealworms should not be fed to chickens whose eggs are for human consumption.

Would be keen to hear your thoughts.

Mine have been eating dried meal worms from day 1. I've eaten tons of their eggs and I don't think I have any health programs. :idunno

I order them in bulk on Amazon so they must be from China. I'll check the bag when I get home. Seems odd that it would be ok to poison wild birds just not your chickens, right?

So then why is it legal to SELL them? They should stop the supply of uncertified dried mealworms. I have never heard of this before. Odd.

I guess I am doomed to death and disease. I figure I have eaten 100s of bags of them after they have been processed into eggs by my girls.

Crazy isn't it?!

I've asked on one of my local facebook groups and lots of people say they have always given their chickens and ducks dried mealies with no negative side effects. I guess it is personal preference.

Some chicken portraiture for your enjoyment:
