It is fun! But sometimes difficult. I struggle with making each character unique and giving each a good character arc and backstory. In my story there is a main character, a couple super close friends, and six or seven others who are important. Any tips?
(Arc?)
You have a great system there! I do fanfiction, so I have characters to research and personalities that are already set. As for coming up with your own, I have two or three personal characters.

For making one main character, try taking your own personality and appearance, and change it around a bit. Or, if you have a favorite character, base them somewhat off of that.
I hope this helps some! :)

What is fan fiction?
By Character Arc I mean how the character changes (for the better) and grows throughout the the book. And how what they learn helps them in the climax!
Thanks for the tips, great idea!

I get super into the backstories. Looks I usually are decent with, but personalities besides short, basic descriptions take more work. Like, I know Tatiana is shy and hates most of the customers at his work, but I have to consciously remember that when I write from his point of view. And Roman is a playboy who doesn't seem to like hearing people say no, but I have to actively remember not to make him go soft
I love what you said about remembering their personalities while you write. I have trouble with that too and I guess I just need to push through and keep reminding myself who they are. Thanks!

Like with Kanon Chiyoda, she is described as someone who changes a lot depending on whether Kei is present or not. She is very protective of Kei and is rarely seen without him. Not to mention, Kanon is rather impulsive and has a tendency to react without thinking.

But Kei Isori on the other hand, he is the level-headed one.

Sticky notes are your best friend

(Writing stories based on fiction, such as TV series, movies, books, games, etc. In fanfiction, you get to make your own world, featuring characters from whatever your favorite thing is.)

Okay! Thank you! I will have to remember that!

You're welcome!

(Hi fellow Idahoan!)

I don't actively write anymore, but I spent several years roleplaying both casually and competitively on a G-rated online game. There was a wide range of subjects, from various media to dinosaurs, horses, fantasy, sci-fi, humans, and of course wolves. (I think every fledgling writer in the 21st century experiences a wolf phase... 😋 )

These days I'm more focused on my guitar and jewelry making, but I still have my character profiles stashed in a notebook somewhere. They aged pretty well IMO, unlike my ancient roleplaying posts. I straight up want to die of embarrassment when I read those.

Forgive me, but how the heck do you rp competitively?

No worries! Since the website I was on was an online game, you could win virtual items, currency or pets. The more effort put into your posts, the better the prize.

Users didn't just play to win though; they encouraged fun and personal (writing) growth. It was a great experience.

Huh that's just weird to me. But my so style is more.... fun and not really competition styled
