Here's the "almost" finished coop in August.... About 2/3 of the materials are salvaged/scavenged. Need to finish tearing down an outbuilding on the neighbors land for siding. Meat birds on uninsulated left, laying hens on fully insulated (including floor) on right. Storage in middle! Left side is 8x8, insulated part is 10x 12. We are going for that "old building" look....

....and today.............a few of the girls poked out and about.....

Looks good. I have a bantam coop being built and it's almost done too

I can't wait. Than I get to get my poor babies out of cages and into their new home

WITH a yard, although they won't get the yard until spring time. Too frozen to dig right now.

That looks so good and really homely. I really prefer it to some of the coops posted that are obviously made from all new materials. It seems such a good idea to reuse timber if it is available instead of buy new.
I am sure your chickens will be very happy there.

Thanks folks, it is a fun task, that is for sure!

I would, but am far from "expert". Also, I have the room and access to "free" materials........ You should post this question in its own thread to get some responses!
