Am i overdoing it ? some people think im nuts, pics added

I just have a little coop and 4 birds. The ventilation isn't all it should be, so I go out daily and scoop the poop off the poop board and the wet clumps off the shavings off the flour and throw that in the compost. I'll add DE and more shavings as needed. It only takes a few minutes and then I don't have to worry about fumes or humidity building up. I haven't cleaned the run in a long time. It's dry dirt plus shavings that they kick out of the coop. If it would ever stop raining I would add leaves from the big pile I have next to the run. But they just keep turning it over themselves and it doesn't smell at all. I like "chicken chores." It's so less stressful than other areas of life

We clean the coop and nest boxes every weekend. If it needs attention during the week we clean it also. I agree you can never be too clean. I haven't had to deal with any illness so I guess we are doing something right.

Wow! I clean the feed shed and check the perimeter well once a week. I clean the layer house well twice a year and some areas, like under roosts and nest boxes as needed. But, I do visit with all the birds daily.

So I looked at Teach's avatar. Nothing square on a log. Went to her BYC page ... a thousand great pictures with nothing square on a log. I re-read everything Teach said.

I'm a guy who doesn't speak the language. Please help me out.

14 hens, 8x12 coop, 8x12 run, and they free range during daylight hours. And even with that, I clean the poop boards every day, and clear out the entire coop about every 6 weeks. It is not spotless, but there is definitely no smell inside. I spend a fair amount of time in the coop when the girls are in, so it's important it stays clean. It doesn't take more than 4-5 minutes a day, and we're all happier for it. I figure it qualifies as exercise!!

We clean the poop boards weekly.. and add extra shavings to floor and nest boxes.

We usually do a the big cleaning 3x a year.(spring/fall/summer)...sometimes more in the summer.

my hen house are off the ground and I keep shaving in them I use a cat litter scoop to scoop out the poop about everyday and fling it in the woods quick and easy! in the run they do the work it is just dirt and they keep it stirred up I do plan on sticking fresh dirt in there this spring the are getting low after 2 years well got to go close them up for the night to keep warm
