I just have a little coop and 4 birds. The ventilation isn't all it should be, so I go out daily and scoop the poop off the poop board and the wet clumps off the shavings off the flour and throw that in the compost. I'll add DE and more shavings as needed. It only takes a few minutes and then I don't have to worry about fumes or humidity building up. I haven't cleaned the run in a long time. It's dry dirt plus shavings that they kick out of the coop. If it would ever stop raining I would add leaves from the big pile I have next to the run. But they just keep turning it over themselves and it doesn't smell at all. I like "chicken chores." It's so less stressful than other areas of life
