Yes, you are weird to shovel out an area for your chickens.
After all, it is much easier to snow blow.

We were soooo happy to discover that we made the door of our run wide enough to accommodate the snow blower. My DP did a great job on the run, plus she makes a nice path that circles the backyard with a few "rooms" to accommodate our dog, Moxie. Funny thing is, she'll pee in the snow blown rooms, but she still insists on jumping off into the snow to poop. She's a small dog, so the snow is just about as deep as she is!

Snow blower... what luxury - I have to use a shovel to clear an area for my chickens - they will stand at the coop door until I have removed enough snow for them to be satisfied that I have made every effort for their comfort to enable them to continue their exploits as normal outside!

I throw corn down for them on the snow and they look at me in indignation as they have to search for the food in the SNOW - arrrrggggh! Yes - the corn does indent in the snow, but my theory is that worms are underground so it should be fun to search for corn that has fallen below what level they assumed it should be at! Bless them!

Spring is just around the corner - where? which way?
