Sluggo is a little pellet that you sprinkle in the garden. It's safe to use around children and pets. But just to be on the safe side, I'll not let the chickens in the garden when I'm using it. It's active ingredient is iron phosphate, so it breaks down to be a soil amendment. The slugs eat it, and crawl off to die. Wonderful product. It's also sold in a generic form. Walmart carries it. Be sure that iron phosphate is the ONLY active ingredient.
Thank you, I will give it a try.

Camp, it is very difficult deciding what's the best advice. Every garden is different & what works for others might not work for you. Gardening is trial and error. I'm going to plant oregano between the tomatoes & plant merigolds on the edge to see if it helps with the pest.

Camp, try not to be so hard on yourself over your garden areas. It takes time to build your soil up. Doing soil testing is helpful too. We try to dress the gardens in the Spring with aged compost & till well. Then we take in soil samples to see if anything needs to be added.

Here are the pictures of my bean trellis/tunnel. We will be building a second one this year to grow our cucumbers on.

This is made with T-post & 5 pig pannels. It has saved my bad back, would have had to discontinue planting beans if we hadn't went to this.

Thanks Lisa. :hugs I’m not used to not being good at something... When I try something new I practice until I’m proficient, or decide it isn’t worth my time. I don’t usually continue to put efforts into failures. So I guess I’m still practicing to become proficient. :lau

My grandpa always had a big garden, and he was only able to grow squash. Big gorgeous plants, and the whole rest of the plot was dead failures. So it runs in the family. Although my grandma said her mama could put a dead stick in the ground and it would take root.

I love that! The power company cleared the lines so I have lots of debris to built with. That’s why I’m aiming for the wigwams this year. I need to save my tposts for the fence.
