Ameraucana 2

My Olive Egger, Easter Egger, and Wellsummer all have green/blue legs. It doesn’t mean they are pure.
Looks like you have a very pretty EE. 🙂
If your welsummer has green or blue legs, it’s not a purebred welsummer. That breed has yellow legs.
The genetics are different but unfortunately for physical characteristics there is none this is why so many people end up with Easter Eggers when they think they're getting ameraucanas. Their temperament is about the same too.
They actually do look pretty different. Ameraucanas usually have a larger beard, smaller pea comb, and fuller body. Though they can come in some of the same colors, most EE colors will never be seen on an ameraucana. Also, colors like wheaten aren’t usually seen on Easter eggers.

He does appear to have some leakage in his wings! He may not be a full splash Ameraucana…as that color seems like it might have a gold leakage base and thus might have some other color mixed in. His legs do have a green tint, but that isn’t uncommon in Splash when they are young. My girl Marshmallow had rather green tinted legs but she’s 8 months now and her legs are much more slate as expected.

He sounds like a gem though!! And he’s very pretty 😍 I would let him stay too!
I’m thinking it’s leakage too. I was hoping to use him for breeding but now I’m not sure. Either way he’s sweet and cute enough to look at! I have a soft spot for those Ameraucana beards. Lol

My first blue egg from one of my 6month old Ameraucanas.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I'd never seen it written that the shank color was sex linked. So I have a bird with pea comb, blackish shanks, all black plumage, brown eyes, beards, muff, no wattles. Age 11 weeks. All indications were she's a pullet. Does the shank color mean for sure? What color of shanks for a black cockerel?
Ok not sex link like we were thinking. It means a correct color leg shanks can happen even in crossed birds because if a bird that is a cross of 2 leg colors, dark shanks are dominate on the pullets because it is carried on the sex chromosome.

I have 4! Two Self blue Ameraucana roosters, one Splash pullet and one Blue pullet! I just adore their personalities, they are just the best chickens! 😍
