There is no "I" in Ameraucana
I let some mature and grow out over the winter in a little run outside and I also have a bunch of "rooster" boxes inside.
I don't know where the gold, silver and red came from in the lines; probably when the breed was being developed. Alot of them carry it, we just don't normally see it, it's usually "covered" by the main color of the bird.
If you take the pullets away, there is usually nothing much to fight about with the young cockerels. They should establish a pecking order quickly and fighting will be kept to a minimum. Once you start seperating and reintroducing them the "violence" can escalate.
