Ameraucana Projects Thread

Hey, just been reading this post to see what people think might be possible to create with ameraucanas. I have a project that I want to start, it involves ameraucanas but they won't really be amaeraucanas anymore if my project works.

I want to create a crested ameraucana that still lays blue eggs and has slate legs, and beards and muffs.

I want to do it by mixing some brabanters with ameraucanas with ressesive genes. Could anyone tell me what the most ressesive ameraucana color/pattern is? I was thinking of working with creme, black or cuckoo brabanters.

Can anyone tell me what gender of which breed I would have to start with to get this started?
Thanks

Got 'em. The crested ones anyway. I used Polish blood to get the crests. I currently have Buff Laced, Paint and Partridge (this color needs a little work, too much laced look on the breast).

I was thinking this sound a Polish cross instead of a brabanter-- much less aggressive and better crests. I wondered more about using a Crev but that V comb has to be hard to get rid of. I really want someone to come up with a Mille Fleur and a Silver Laced. I had MF Basques here but geez, who wants to fight the yellow leg color AND the SC on top of trying for a recessive color like MF? If I had more time and money maybe.

Where are the pics of your crested Ams?

This is the only picture that I have of my Paint Crested (i call them Crested EE because of the way most Ameraucana people react to having anything not to the SOP called Ameraucana.

I actually got the ideal from seeing the European Araucana's.

Well, it seems that I won't be able to continue the project with the paints. The rooster has developed WAY too much red, and I doubt I will be able to breed that out, he has more red that black! Here he is

Pullet

( black is on the back and head only )

No need to give up on the paints.Just use a good black or blue rooster over your hen,50% will be black 50% paint.Keep doing that until you get clean roosters.I have a start myself. You could also use white but dominate white preferred.
