I still say he's a Blue Wheaten. His coloring may not be correct to standard, his blue seems very light (which could just be the lighting in the picture) with irregularities in some areas (hackles and tail feathers) but he still looks BW to me.
If he was a Splash Wheaten, wouldn't his chest be white/pale gray with orangey red lacing?
Correct me if I'm wrong.
ETA: The only (IMO) certain way to tell would be to put him over some Wheaten girls, if the resulting chicks all hatch out and feather in Blue Wheaten, then you'll know for a fact that he's a splash.

I have to agree. My SWs have never been that blue. I have had splash orpingtons that appeared to be almost lavender for some time, but they were juveniles.
Ok, its the question of whether he is a splash blue wheaten? If he was a splash, he would have white somewhere with some blue. He looks more like a blue wheaten that is not correct.

He is the sire of my 2010 girls. I do have good bodies, still working on color.
My blue wheaten cockerel out of him, has up to today, been afraid of the hens. So I put his half wheaten brother in with the girls as well, and today, the blue wheaten cockerel was going at it with a vengence.
I guess it just took some competition!
