Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I just want to know for sure if you can sex Ameraucanas by the feather method.
I thought they had the long feather gene but everything I have had so far (14 chicks) has been girls. Surely this can't be right. I did have all girls and one boy last year but that was only 5 chicks.

Here are my only 2 Ameraucanas. I think the Lavender is a Roo. Comb is bright red already. Much redder then the Weaton. What everyone think of them?? Nosey Chatecler sneaking into the picture.

Have to share about the most awesomest hatch ever!!

Dak sent me 36 B/B and L/S ameraucana eggs.
These were sent all together in a single box . The eggs were each wrapped in a paper towel and placed in an egg carton. Two of the 18 egger egg cartons were in a large shipping box, and shredded paper tightly packed all around. All eggs arrived intact and air cells looked great for shipped eggs.

Only 5/36 did not start.
28 of the 31 that did start hatched

All super healthy, chubby cheeks, and not feather on a single leg!!

28/36 is amazing for shipped eggs - GO DAK
