Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

As luck would have it, I have one pure Ameraucana from my hatch along with EEs, and naturally, it's a cockerel. Is this a wheaten Cockerel? Thinking too dark for a blue wheaten like my Levi was. Or is it too early to tell? The feathers are really black-looking, not blue. Good luck, Mahonri!

Thanks for the input. He's such a handsome kiddo, I think. Wish I'd hatched a couple girls to go with him. Same as last time, just hatched one blue wheaten cockerel, Levi, and no girl pals for him. I did get a few gorgeous EE chicks who have a blue wheaten daddy, though.

That's a Wheatie.

I've got EXCITING news!! (for me at least

I've been waiting for this day for months, and months, and months - Since I first bought the pair, honestly.

After a lot of rough patches, some long time of revival through having his own place, and still nothing but some crowing, finally, he actually bred her. I personally don't even care if this one time worked and she's fertile yet, I'm just happy he actually can and did do it!

I can now say I breed Buff Ameraucanas without technically lying.

I honestly was worried I'd just have to replace him for someone else whom I'd have to hatch out of bought eggs, thus the time, money, etc I spent on him was a waste. But PHEW it was not a waste!

Okay, carry on now. . .
