Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Just wanted to hop on and give some positive feedback...

I ordered 15 day-old chicks (in blue and splash) from Paul Smith earlier this year. All 15 arrived safely from TX to CA in great shape, and I never lost a single bird. Today I started moving birds around into different breeding pens, and I was impressed yet again with how these guys have grown up and filled out. I can't wait until they start laying and contributing to my existing BBS program.

Thank you, Mr. Smith!

I just returned from the Wisconsin International show and 2300 birds were entered. It was a great show and wonderful turn out. This was the first show for me with AM's. They are a new breed for me. Both of my AM's placed quite well.

Although my blue had a leg issue, she still placed well. The judged loved her structure.

My black made Champion Row

My Orpingtons also placed

This is my almost 4 month old Blue cockerel. Any thoughts? He's on my arm so they aren't the best but you can see his color.

Hoping his beard and muff come in more.

Yes they sure are!! All of the birds from you that I did not cull are outstanding birds. Thank you for the opportunity to have these birds. My dotties did not place, but holly cow the dotties at the show were outstanding. The male I kept from you was DQ for having high hip bones..it was so slight..but the Judges were tough with so many birds to choose from. The little pullet I kept from you did not place, but she was a hit. She received much attention...

I really love her and she will mature out nice.

OK, question for the thread...I have a wheaten Ameraucana rooster that has brown in his tail. This is a pure Wheaten Ameraucana boy and I would like to use him for breeding but can not find if the brown in the tail is a fault or a dq. Can someone give me some input? He is a very mellow boy as to the reason he still has those spurs. I love his temperament and have recently obtained and hatched eggs from his line(Ramey) which one of the young cockerels I got from that hatching has the brown feathers too(and the only cockerel without feather sprigs on the legs). I would appreciated input....
