Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have a splash wheatan chick that's about 5 months now and her mother- an 1 1/2 year old blue wheatan.
The chick has out grown her mother. Not bantam/L.F. difference, yet....but definitely a size difference I notice. Should I be at all concerned?
I like it, well I like that the chick is healthy n growing n not undersize. Mama is happy n healthy too just seemed odd to me.

Anyone near southeast texas with hatching eggs? Im having trouble finding eggs close so they do not have to be shipped. Ive only incubated 2 sets of eggs so I dont want to try shipped eggs yet:) Would love some blue eggs!

Folks, this thread was intended to discuss pure Ameraucana's. If you wish to discuss a project, Easter Eggers, or Olive Eggers, there are other threads for those discussions.

There will continue to be new folks thinking they have pure Ameraucana's popping in on this thread, and we appreciate your patience with them as they learn the difference between Ameraucana's and Easter Eggers.

I don't think they will lighten up. You might want to see if you can find a different cock bird. Keep a few of the pullets and breed them to a different line.

Do you know where the original line came from?

I bought the cock at a youth poultry show and the hen from Larry Gibberson. I have another cock I got from Larry, I have them in with him. His chicks do seem lighter.
