Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Ok think I got that. Levi tail is all blue with a few feathers outlined in orange.Just a few-those beautiful long Roo one's. His Wheaten buddy is Calvin one of Jean's boys so if I end up with another I guess it will be Tommy

From the APA SOP:

TAIL: Blue, some orange shafting in sickles.

Shafting - Coloring on the shaft (middle) of the feather.

So the orange in the sickle feathers is okay then?

Orange shafting is ok, not edging, but I have yet to see a perfect bird.....

Patterned birds are the hardest to perfect.

No perfect anything that's what makes life so interesting. I have some hair I consider to be the wrong color as well that's why Levi fits right in here

.He has great size rest of his coloring is beautiful and he has a disposition that is super all traits I put more value on than a few mis-colored tail feathers but like I said..I hope it breeds out.
My silver boy is also real nice..he's got real nice size but those silvers are like a fluffy cheeked leghorn...wee catch one if you can...why can't they be more like the others and get their toes stepped on every chance they get
Off to a Girl Scout pool party I must go....100 girls a huge pool pizza and soda=loud insane evening that I volunteer for now that's just Crazy

These seem to be very nice birds lots of size and I was hoping for hens but they are slow to feather on their backs so my hopes are not too high.....

Halo go to the Delaware thread I posting pics of the meat bird cross

I am down to my two favorite cockerels:
Which one do you guys like?
Bachelor #1 was the fastest to mature and is already courting the girls at 19 weeks.

Bachelor #2 is a little slower to mature, but is catching up in size.

I have Blue Black and splash pullets So blue or black roo does not matter to me so much. The blue guy looks like better breeding stock to me? But we sure do enjoy the eye candy of the iridescent green on the black guy.

He is a good boy and rules the roost over all other cockerels. (He is natures choice too.) Its just his crow...High pitched and hollow sounding.. Sounds like an owl:rolleyes:
He is the logical choice.. Those blacks with that green sheen are just such eye candy.. Really hard for me to cull two I did. Still need to cull 4 more..

Some of the tiny babies with their sumatra mama. She turned into an excellent broody and a fabulous mama! The poor babies are looking a little mangy right now. Feathers have started popping out all over.
