Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Your black pullet is very pretty. I think she has beautiful feathering. I'm not sure what you are referring to about her tail, and without a shot from behind it is really hard to tell, but it looks like she might have a bit of a "pinched" tail.

She sure looks like a keeper to me, though. (Disclaimer-I'm not a judge, and I have had limited experience with ameraucanas......heck....I still have a hard time spelling it without putting and "I" in there!)

NoseyChickens,
If your white male is still young his tail may get somewhat better as he ages. The second picture of him shows yellowing in his plumage. Now that may be the camera and it may not. If these two items still shows as he gets older. You will need to hatch as many chicks as possible and replace the male if you plan on showing. Otherwise they are nice for a backyard flock.

Oh no he is pure white. That's just me trying to adjust the picture because the exposure was too bright. He is also a HUGE fan of rolling around in our funky desert dirt. I haven't even seen him try to mate her yet, so he probably still has some filling out to do. I don't show my birds, but I am thinking about trying. We are certainly wanting to put our girls in 4H also.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It is indeed more on the pinched side. But, really, does the standard ask for "well spread" as in from top to bottom or side to side, making an inverted V? Her tail to me is well spread from top to bottom, but is practically 2D otherwise.

Ok I bet everyone is tired of hearing from me but I have a couple questions.

I want to know what everyone thinks of my Bantam Blue Wheaten Cockerel. I will post pictures of the hens when I get them...I may try to get some today but it has rained all day!

He is about 7 months old. I love his legs but I'm still very new to the variety any opinions will help.

I also want opinions on my new pair of Black Bantams

They are about 26 weeks old now. I'm thinking I really like them. Do you think they will fill out alot between now and December?

I also have another request. Will someone tell me if she is a good pullet. I've been showing her but not in large shows so opinions are welcomed

Here comes the last question. I have this blue pullet with really dark lacing and I was wondering if this is ideal or if it was suppose to be lighter

I like the Wheaten cockerel I feel like he is molting. He does have a funny looking head but maybe thats because he is not fully feathered in. I also am partially to wider headed birds.

The new black pair they are still young yet. I would like to see them when their beards and tails are filled in more. They look decent for now though.

The black pullet I really like her al lot she has a nice wide head and a fuller appearance.

The dark lacing is nice the blue color looks a bit uneven though and same with the lacing. Not sure if I like that large a contract between the inside and edging of the feathers.

He still has some pin feathers coming in around his head. He is a little frazzled in his individual picture, but he looks more relaxed in the carrier picture I took of him at the show. I agree with you on the pair they are still pretty much chicks. Thank goodness I wasn't crazy about that black pullet, I think she is my favorite ameraucana I have. I don't understand what you mean about the blue? could you throw that at me one more time....

The blue has some AMAZING lacing, but it's only in certain areas. Maybe it's the photo, but she has a rather plain looking chest down to her thighs.

The blue isn't actually supposed to have that lacing. According to the standard, it's supposed to be "an even grayish blue". I agree with you Tyler, it IS pretty, but unfortunately it isn't what is desired according to the standard. I really like the black pullet in the pic by herself!

What cloverleaf said is correct although I do like some degree of lacing your girls lacing is a little extreme and very uneven. In my opinion the blue color should be more evenly distributed not with patches of dark and light blue.
