Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Most people have Easter Eggers, and the others who have Ameraucanas but don't talk here usually just stalk the thread or don't know this thread exists. A lot of owners of a particular breed don't seem to care much in talking specifics about it, probably because they just want to enjoy the chicken and eat its eggs.

I talk here a lot though because I love talking genetics, traits, breeding, etc. And I love helping people out with questions. Oh and posting photos. Always gotta have photos.

I am a stalker

what else would you do on this thread lol

Well, I was looking for something where we just talk about our "one" baby or two... not that we show them... or breed them.. there's a few of us out there with some that have them just to have, not to breed and show.

LOL...that would be me, one that wants this breed, and enjoys her, and...yep, loves the eggs. Stalker? Me??

Talk away! Folks won't mind a bit - even if you only own a baby or two. I just have a handful of Ameraucanas. I do intend to hatch my own eggs so I guess that means technically, I'm a breeder but I'm really not. They live in my backyard and they are my babies. And I LOVE my EEs too and my future Olive Eggers. But I like to talk and learn and make friends, and I also enjoy spectating at poultry shows.

Welcome to the Ameraucana thread!!

Thank you! I would love to go to a poultry show..a real one that is. We have them at our tiny little fair, but there are usually only around 15 birds there. Then there is the state fair. Not many there either. I would like to go to a real show. It would be so much fun to see what the real nice bred birds look like..in person..I see some beauty's here!

Utah has a poultry club and they put on one or two shows a year sand if you are close to CO they have them too. Generally very good birds and more large fowl than many other shows.

I went to my first "real" poultry (and ONLY poultry) show a couple of weeks ago. I am TOTALLY hooked! Spectacular birds - even better in person than in photographs

and super friendly people too. The auction at the end blew my mind. A trio of Buff Orps went for well over $1,000.

There is alot to learn but what a fun process! And chicken folks seem so willing to share what they know - and what they don't. It's very refreshing.
