Should I put a type of hay or bedding in the area in my coop where they lay the eggs?

Hi! I am new to this chicken world. A few of my cousins have chickens and I became very interested by them so I decided to get 2 Ameraucana chicks. This is my first time raising chickens and I am so excited! Any tips or helpful links please share I would love for all your help!

In the run, a lot of people use the deep litter method. This is mostly just throwing the shavings from the coop into the run. As weird as that sounds, it actually prevents a problem. Chickens can get mudballs on the end of their toes if their run is too soggy.
