American serama thread!

Aren't they fun? I never fail to giggle when I hear Squeaky. He's even a little quieter than your boy. I mimic his squeak whenever I see him and he calls back to me now and even struts over to me when he's running loose, if he's not too busy flirting.

Have you gotten any offspring from him yet and do any of them share his voice?
I haven't gotten chicks from Squeaky yet but I've got 4 cockerels from the same parents that are 3+ months old and only 2 of them have started crowing.

even if the roo is under a year and he is over the 17oz you can enter him in the cock category...there is flexibility there for ya.....same with pullet who is larger just enter her in the hen category. as far as table top attack chicken if your gonna show her start getting her used to different surfaces now....other wise she will squat like a few of my pullets decided to do.....good luck training

Speaking of which, I would greatly appreciate it if y'all would pretend like you were someone who didn't know ANYTHING at all about raising and showing Seramas, and please tell me what I need to know and do???? I have a trio right now. Cockerel is probably 5 months old, has not been handled a lot.

I know I need to set up a table (obviously) but do I put a piece of carpet on it or what? How do I get him to pose? What's the best way to get him accustomed to different surfaces........where do you take them to do that?

Do you let your showbirds run loose in a coop (sand floor) or do you cage them? If you cage them, what are the dimensions of your cages..pics would be great, and what other things do you do to make your bird look good? Grooming???? Any special foods that make them look great???

I don't want to go to a show halfcocked!
