I feed the medicated and cracked corn, and I pulverize it into very fine bits. I also feed vermacelli (fine spagetti) that is broken up into inch or less pieces, cook that into a egg drop soup water (just egg and water), sometimes some canned catfood goes into the water and finish up with rice. I add the protein because the birds are in the brooder and not out catching tiny bits of protein from the yard. Then I mix that with their regular bird food. Chicks with pieces of spagetti are a hoot to watch! You can also cut up some fine grass, since they would eat that as well in the garden. What do you all feed your Seramas? I have read that gamebird feed is best?
During the winter, they need all the extra protein and fat that can get, because they use up energy in the cold for shivering. (my birds free range during the day, and huddle at night in the coup with christmas lights. If it's too cold, I will bring the seramas indoors.
