American serama thread!

What do you all feed your Seramas? I have read that gamebird feed is best?
I feed the medicated and cracked corn, and I pulverize it into very fine bits. I also feed vermacelli (fine spagetti) that is broken up into inch or less pieces, cook that into a egg drop soup water (just egg and water), sometimes some canned catfood goes into the water and finish up with rice. I add the protein because the birds are in the brooder and not out catching tiny bits of protein from the yard. Then I mix that with their regular bird food. Chicks with pieces of spagetti are a hoot to watch! You can also cut up some fine grass, since they would eat that as well in the garden.
During the winter, they need all the extra protein and fat that can get, because they use up energy in the cold for shivering. (my birds free range during the day, and huddle at night in the coup with christmas lights. If it's too cold, I will bring the seramas indoors.

Those chick pix are great. Serama's have to be the most cute chickies of all. I love my 4. They are starting to stand upright already and one has a attitude and I think must be a little boy. Glad I named him Toy for he is a Toy Boy!
I got my eggs from crazypetlady for winning the short story contest last Easter Hatch.
I worry about disturbing the eggs at 1 week let alone candling them at 2 days. Most of the time I wait until 2 weeks or just before lock down to candle.
I am so glad there is this thread. I am learning what I need to about the care of Serama's.

I use a regular food processor, one that is like a billion years old, but it chops the hard stuff fine, like a powder. It just has those four little blades at the bottom. You can't fill it too full, or you will just grind the bottom into nothingness and the top foodstuffs won't rotate to the bottom.

I use an old electric coffee grinder (spice mill). It's a small one but works great. I try not to touch my Serama eggs either, usually at day 10(to get rid of the quitters) and then once again before lockdown.

I'm just loving all the babies, even if your pictures are SLOWLY convincing me that there is a SMALL POSSIBILITY that I MAY NOT have a Frizzle this time around. Still holding onto my thread of hope though.
