American serama thread!

Are Seramas even available from Hatcheries yet?
Pray they never are. :(

Note on water bottles..there are ones with big tubes and ones with little tubes--I call those 'mouse bottles'. Wouldn't use anything else with a bird--the drop size is smaller, the waste less, and the ball is much easier for them to move. Thanks for the reminder, I'll hang one in there today and see how they like it. :)

Kuku, I can vouch for CastleDelights--if you only get two, it wasn't the eggs! :) (Says she, looking at the swirl of 11 gorgeous chicklets!)

No, that is what I found out. They didn't have the names of the breeds in there..I recognized the cochins, ameraucanas, and silkie batams. Just wasn't sure what this little one was, and first thought was serama. Pretty sure it's a Japanese, have a friend that found a Japanese at the store up north from us..so, I went to the Japanese thread.

I don't think that'll happen, 'cause they're so hard to hatch. So maybe this breed will be lucky at that ;)

This is as close to a hatchery as I've seen. I almost ordered some from them when I first began to admire the breed, but I'm so happy I've found some great breeders through this awesome site!

Oh yeah? Well the two I have are ADORABLE and they are the only two from over 2 dozen eggs!!!! Crazy right?
These 18 are also Castle Delight, I was so glad I got to get some more, I've heard such great things, and she has such beautiful birds, I want to get a nice little stash from her before I start ordering around. DH is going to kill me lol

Gosh I hope not. They will completely ruin this great breed.

You guys, I'm pretty sure it's a Japanese. I just didn't know for sure myself. I've looked up both, and I can see the difference. I doubt the hatcheries won't be doing anything with them any time too soon. Tell you what though..they are adorable!!! How are people getting them..I know some have had them for years, and have hatched their own, but do folks send eggs out to hatch to others? They are just darling! Are they a sweet bird too? Flighty, but friendly? :)
