American serama thread!

Mink are day time too.

We don't have mink here, i have never seen one here
Serama are like Hawk candy.
My birds live for their time running free in the paddock before dusk.
Life has risks. We go on the highway, knowing 30,000 of us are going to die there each year.

Some years I have to stand there like a goalie and they still snatch birds from me.
The Hawks are very quiet this year. I wonder if it's because my 2 cats who grew up with the birds are always there now?
honestly, when i free range mine they spend most of their time at my feet waiting for their turn to be held

When I let my birds free range they tend to have some larger birds with them. Those birds have free ranged for a long time. I understand the risks , but I feel like it benefits the birds.

I love seramas. They are such good birds.

Sorry forgot to finish

so I have a pair that are temporarily living with my duccles. I'm trying to introduce new hens to the flock. The seramas took them in like they were their chicks and is keeping the "big" duccles from them.

Yes, they are....but I do have a couple that are not; one rooster is down right mean. I will be glad when he's gone.

I agree...life has risks. My little ones get to range just like my big girls (most of the time, at least)...and they LOVE it. I can't imagine keeping them penned. All of my birds, big and little, are very good about either retiring to a run or tucking in close to an outbuilding or car when rthawks are out and about. That's really our only day-time predator here. And I've only dealt with juveniles diving on occasion...never adults. Thankfully we have lots of mice, squirrels, etc. in the fields around our property...plenty of "other" food available.

This is my Midget. Two months old-half the size of her siblings-3.5 ounces. The best part is she is strong; no frailty at all.

My avatar frizzle is the opposite. She is brooding eggs again and they are fertile. Laying eggs is difficult at best-I keep expecting to find her egg bound. I'm hoping Midget will not have that problem.

Thanks! I made her diaper from scrap leather I had & some velcro. If you want diapers but don't want to make them, @kukupecpec
 makes them so cute!:D
Thank you! I did get ahold of them and will order those diapers. I like the idea of a leash since they are so flighty ! I am afraid to let them outside at all!
