American serama thread!

So you're confirming that Worf's eggs are fertile? That's great news.
Hoping to see his first babies tomorrow.

Good luck.

How many Worf chicks hatched?

Last edited:
Gyda hatched Worf & Gracie hatched Powder.
Both happened on October 6th.
They are 7 and 1/2 months old.

I checked again before tucking them in & still nothing.
I will leave her on there for a few days.
I once had a hen hatch eggs on day 23.

My eggs were older than yours, so maybe they weren't fertile yet?
Worf's girls are pretty small too.

Worf & Charley are in the same quartet with no conflict.
Worf will try to fight anyone, although he's gentle with chicks & Charley.
Charley has run from every fight he's ever faced, even though he is now about the same size as Worf.
Neither bird has gotten much taller but both have gotten very thick.

Checked my eggs tonite, day 15, wasn't home over the weekend. A few weird air cells, but all appear to be hanging in there so far. A couple look way behind, or like they will end up sticky if they hatch, but for shipped eggs, I'm cautiously optimistic for lockdown later this week.

They are 7 and 1/2 months old. Then they were well over 6 months when the eggs were laid. I know that different lines are...different. Twice now I've gotten fertile eggs when using cockerels 3 months old and they didn't yet have their full adult plumage.

I checked again before tucking them in & still nothing.

My eggs were older than yours, so maybe they weren't fertile yet? I thought of that too. Two weeks could make the difference between fertile or not.
