Yes! Tiny seramas especially need vitamins. I have some vitamins and electrolytes that I always stick in my birds' water. I also sprinkle it on my baby seramas' food because I have some teeny tinies that grow feathers but don't grow in size for the first month or two of their lives. It's very important to make sure they have plenty of supplemental vitamins. I just buy Durvet vitamins and electrolytes for them and all of my birds seem to get what they need from it.
** I wanted to add that wheat germ has MANY benefits for poultry. It can stop shell death, improve fertility in eggs, improve egg production, and make feathers shiny and BEAUTIFUL. It's good for digestive health for birds AND for people. I use wheat germ on my birds and I buy it in bulk. I have not had shell deaths in any of my babies since I started using it.
I ONLY give wheat germ to my girls because I have heard that it can give males ginormous combs. <-- Don't know for sure about the male combs but I'd rather not find out!
I'm raising Seramas, not Japanese.
