American serama thread!

I think we're from the same area! I'm going to a poultry swap this weekend and getting a dozen serama eggs from Laura too. I'm so excited! My first purebred seramas :)

I did have a serama silkie mix who was such a sweetheart, but she passed away a month ago.

Here's my sweet Pepper

Well, I'll see you in Canby then! That hen is adorable!

This is Zip. She was a cochin/serama cross hen.

Oh, she's super pretty too! You all are making me want to try crossing a serama and a bantam sultan, LOL (but I need larger egg layers now, so I won't)

Oh yah, one of my babies has a slipped tendon. I keep stretching back the leg and massaging, twirking it in place and then stretching it by bending that joint closed again. I think it's getting a little looser, but will it eventually stay in place? Right now, as soon as I let the baby go, it pops it back out for a more comfortable, but unusable position. I'm hoping if I spend enough time with the chick doing this, it'll get better. Anyone else go through this? I'm afraid when I make a splint, that the tendon falls off anyway since I can't see it, plus s/he is so small, it's hard to get it right.

Would love to hear from anyone that has had success reattaching the tendon?

What can too high humidity do?? My humidity is only a little higher during lock down then the rest of incubation. Now that they are hatching I think they have super high humidity because I'm afraid of them drying out because they are taking SoOOOOooO long.

I have 6 chicks out! And 5 from the cooler bater pipping! YEAAAH

You need to splint it in place so it stays there. Here's a thread on fixing it: Slipped Tendon

Sounds like the peepers are coming along good! Can't wait until Sunday!

My Serama rooster, Duke, has had 2 episodes of either seizures or strokes in the last 12 hours. :( I dont really know how old he is but I am thinking he doesn't have long before he will pass. I am so sad for him!! Here he is in my arms just now as I held him thru his episode again.
SO sorry to hear this, it is heartbreaking to watch and not be able to a thing about it. I have experienced this with a serama of mine that sustained a head trauma. Just love that boy as much as you can...LOL

Okay, it's a LOOONG link, but it's well worth clicking on. Was wandering around YahooNews and looking at the photos from the Sony World Photography competition and WHOA!

It's a SERAMA, doing the Malaysian Mambo! :) In other words, a hen showing off her attitude and character. VERY cool picture! Just thought folks here might want to take a peek. :)
