American serama thread!

Ok I giving up. I got a class A trio last July and have set every egg since. Not one has been fertile. One hen is proven so I think its the roo. No more serama for me. I have another proven bantam roo ( about 1 1/2lb)and 4 small assorted hen. All 8 are going out to the garden. Mutts are better than nothing. I am very frustrated with trying for chicks. Has anyone else had a lazy roo.

Just hatched out some more Serama babies!!!

Also, can you tell if a chick is going to be silkied? Sorry the pictures look bad but the black one is straight feathered and comes from our birds and the other is a chick from a chocolate/partridge hen I bought. The breeder said if they have green legs it's probably a silkie. Is this true?

Posted some pictures of the mom just for fun. For those of you that have chocolate or dun Seramas, what color of rooster could I breed her with to get more chocolates?

I do not know, but the breeder had silkied birds. I think she may have just been talking about her own line, I don't know but is there a wrong leg color for Seramas or does it not really matter?

If the hen is really a chocolate, you can breed with black to get more chocolate. Leg color has absolutely nothing to do with feathering. Green legs, yellow legs, purple legs, have nothing to do with the feathering!

do yalls tiny little serama roosters believe they are big immortal creatures and that all ladies big and small desire them ? lol.. our little white frizzle just struts all over the place( he looks somewhat like a micro turkey from behind) lol., and at nightfall he doesnt want to go to his safe coop .. he wants to roost upon the pool ladder.. i go get him and put him up and then he snuggles me a bit like a sweet baby bc i guess hes exhausted from trying so hard to be big all day ..

I wouldn't call him lazy, you may need to trim bum feathers on hens and him

@daphiesmom had this little guy chase a guinea off the porch

I tried that. I tried everything except candles and mood music.
Trimmed feathers
Special feed
Supplemental light
Separated them for weeks and re-introduced
Added a "experienced" lady
Larger pen (room to court, outside, fresh air)
small cage(no room to avoid him, indoors, temp controlled)

He just has no drive and never tries to court the girls. I am hoping a little competition might get him going and if it doesn't..Oh well.

I have a size A serama hen and none of her eggs so far have had any yolk. She lays about every 4 days and houses with the roo. He gets it in all the time and the other hen ha eggs hatching right now.
