American serama thread!

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures. My best hen is brooding again; nine eggs and a different rooster. I'm looking forward to seeing what the chicks are like. They won't be like the one you showed, but as long as I see improvement with each generation I'll be happy. I suppose I could buy better birds, but where's the fun in that? For me it's fun to see what my "next" generation looks like and knowing this is something I created.
I candled the eggs this morning. Apparently she laid another egg after starting to brood-10 eggs. The first egg laid had died in development leaving nine eggs all alive and growing. This is the first time I've had such a high percentage of eggs develop. I'm giving credit to the new rooster. I'll have to keep an eye on that last egg laid as it will hatch a bit later than the rest.

Y'all remember this little one who wouldn't how still? Used to be named Harriette. Well, 'she' developed a massive comb overnight and was crowing this morning

So now, out of the eight that are really Seramas, I've got five hens and three roosters.

I'll get a pic of the little guy tomorrow. On the bright side, he has got the most upright stance I've seen in any of my birds. His two brothers are practically horizontal next to him

Turning out to be a beautiful mottled, too.
I wouldn't be so disgusted if they'd been straight run. This little guy was a 'pullet' when I got him. Ah well.
Oh yeah, and is there a way to post a video? This little guy has the most hilarious crow

I'm looking forward to seeing the video. I also had a "pullet" turn into a rooster. Late bloomers are a pain, but in this case I'm thrilled as I was hoping one of my avatar frizzle's chicks would be a rooster with the frizzle gene.

Sorry that my pics never fail to be more than terrible

I don't have an actual camera and my iPod takes garbage pictures. Anyway, here they are...

Rooster in the middle is the one that used to be a 'pullet'. He usually stands straighter but doesn't appreciate having his picture taken.

This guy's looking good. Getting in some straight sickles, and I caught him today standing with his tail touching the back of his neck

Here's another of formerly Harriette now Harrington. This guy still can't hold still

I'll try and get some of the girls and the third rooster later. They're all feathering out nicely and seem to have great form!
