American serama thread!

:gig I love that pic. Have Teddy and Trouble met yet?
Trouble is a busy gal. She's either broody, raising chicks, or just plain bossy. Teddy gets to sleep in the big coop (instead of the garage) because his crow still sounds like a hiccup. Therefore, he has access to ALL the hens all night & early morning. I put a few of Trouble's eggs under a broody hen, so we'll see. Yet, I'm doubtful Trouble would let any rooster near her. She's a very strong-willed hen. She even crows! Teddy's true girl friends (who spend the days in the tractor with him) are a serama, an OEG, 2 silkies, and a giant Buff Colombian English Orp.

Story of the giant orp: Not sure what to do with that BIG orp, named Cupcake. She hatched a few days late and was weak, so I put her in with the bantams. They'll be almost 5 months & she still prefers to spend her time with the bantams. If I do not put her in the tractor, she'll sit right outside of it as hawk-bait (in the open sunshine w/o food & water).

I love the giant orp Cupcake. Those gals all have similar color, so they belong together. :D

Great pic BabyBoss! He’s a doll. You should enter that pic in the Calendar contest!

Wow, sorry you are having troubles. I try to give them a day to see how they straighten out on their own before doing too much as far as boots, etc. They’ve been cramped in the egg so long, sometimes it just takes a bit of time to uncurl. Hopefully the leg will be ok in another day. I’d try to put it back with momma as soon as possible though. I have one now that hatched a couple days behind the others and is having trouble keeping up, but I have several mommas co-parenting, so one always watches over it.

Oh roosters! Mine have always done very well around babies, and people, so I’m not sure about that. Maybe he will calm down with some solitary time.

If she is already active with the other babies, I would let them hatch first, then try to give them to her after they get up and about. Maybe night 2. But that’s just me.
