OMG how cool, I wish I wasnt ALL the way across the USA.. Edgar is a great guy aswell, you are all going to have a blast, CONGRAS on your first show. Keep us posted...

Well, I'm quite sure that all my eggs are non-starters or have blood rings, though I'll keep them in there longer. So first Serama hatching is a failure, however the person I have an order with for my second batch will have eggs available a week earlier which is really great! So in less than 3 weeks, I'll get to try again ;)

In the mean time, I'm a coop building.... LOL

I have read that Seramas are not a cold hardy breed. I just wanted to get that clarified a little bit. Cold can mean many things depending on what area of the country you are in. Cold to me here in Tennessee isn't the same as someone in say Michigan. My first batch is due to hatch in about a week, and while I will not be putting them outside anytime soon, I do want to be prepared. Temprature wise what is cold for Seramas?

I have read below 45 degrees. But I am still new to seramas

Mine did well last winter outside here in N FL...our low for the winter was 17 but it did not last too many days. They are outside in an open air pen and I put plastic up on all but one side. I put hay in for them to snuggle in and pulled it up under the roosts. Grady Taylor lives near me and his are in wire breeding cages and he moves them in a building when it is a hard freeze although he has occasionally had a comb get a touch of frostbite.

Mine all do Ok outside.. i keep the youngster inside or near a heat lamp. the mail thing is to keep them out of a breeze at night as well as keep them dry. I also have at leat three per pen do they can huddle up... I have been at 28 degrees and they are ok..
