American serama thread!

I have a quick question. I have not been able to find a hen for one of my serama cockerels and he is so lonely since his last one died. I was going to put one of my Self Blue bantams in with him. The only thing is, someone told me not to hatch their offspring. I know they wouldnt be full blooded but I was just curious what the chicks would like and if they would stand tall and take after their dads posture? 

What do you guys think? 

I gotta dumb question: why to you HAVE to have offspring from them. If they enjoy eachothers company, thats enough right there..just saying................

I didn't know there were any booted Seramas! You must take lots of pictures for us!

I just looked at my eggs, and was pretty shocked that at 2 weeks, they're so dark! I got the light to shine on some healthy looking veins, but the whole eggs are totally dark. We still have a week to go though! I hope it's just that these eggs are a bit thick/opaque ?? and that nothing is wrong!

that is pretty normal- the less handling the better too- as hard as it is to keep from checking- they are at day 14 right?



i did check mine from laura- 6 are happily growing- so now i have the hard part... no touchy!!

Why can't you hatch their offspring? Sounds like it'd make a cute chick? Sure, it'd be a mutt but what's wrong with that? Might end up being your favorite little bugger!

If you ever do, it'd be interesting to see which traits are dominant

i guess if you are into showing, but i have found mutts can be adorable! poor joe and josie never have fertile eggs, but they happy together- she has gone broody, so i gave her a couple bantam eggs to hatch-

I really hope a lot of her's hatch! She has so many varieties! I ordered 18 but she sent me a bunch extras (she told me) so Yaay!

she does a wonderful packing job- and 6 are developing- she has wonderful birds!

I gave my Wheaten Serama Roo, 1 Mille Fleur, and 2 Golden Necked D'Uccle hens. I am having a tough time finding Serama hens, too. I hatched 5 the first time and let my Serama hen hatch the 2 that I still have. Everyone of mine were booted, half with the Serama posture, mixed colors. They were very cute, and the first 5 I had no problem rehoming. The guy just wanted some tiny chickens, he didn't care that they were mixed.

I know I'm gonna sound stupid for asking, but can someone direct me to the Laura you're all getting eggs from? I've been looking for eggs, and I like that some of yours are making it intact.

here eggs are always well packed and i know her girls are in laying mode right now...

but remember, she is in Oregon and you are on the other side of the US, so they may not make it so well either. Of course it's worth a try!

Can anyone tell me based on experience with your birds what color this little one is turning out to be? I think it is a little pullet. At what age do they start to get their proud stance? This little one is about 2 weeks old. Also, I have ordered both Serama books. They were 70.00 with shipping included.
